Preliminary Results

From September 8th - 10th over 150 representatives from public agencies and governmental jurisdiction (from Alamo Council of Governments to Waller County) convened at the first REGIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH NATURAL DISASTER PREPAREDNESS CONFERENCE in San Antonio, Texas. Coordinated by the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District with primary sponsorship from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation the participants gathered to discuss, reflect, and analyze the lessons learned from the October 1998 FLOOD. (Also referred to as FLOOD '98).

What you will find in the following presentation are the initial results from seven extensive focus groups conducted during the afternoon and early evening of September 9, 1999. The group size ranged from 9-18 Trained university professors with advanced research training facilitated each group. The actual sessions were coordinated and recorded by advanced graduate students associated with MRPI projects.

Whereas, this is an initial report, the more advanced findings and more detailed discussion will be available after October 1, 1999 here on the WEB Site or in paper format from SAMHD.
